B i o g r a p h y

     Aaron Park, age 15, is currently a sophomore at Long Reach High School, Howard County. He began his piano study at age five under Mrs. Sima Elkis, and has been awarded with numerous 1st place recognitions in various piano competitions, including the Howard County Music Teacher’s Association (HCMTA) Miriam Thomann Piano Competition, the HCMTA Piano Ensemble Competition, the Maryland State Music Teacher’s Association (MSMTA) Festival, and the MSMTA Ensemble Competition and the Miriam S. Gottlieb Memorial Piano Competition since 2006. In 2011, Aaron won the Gertrude S. Brown Piano Concerto Competition and performed Haydn’s Piano Concerto in F-Major, Mov. 1, with the Artists’ Chamber Ensemble in Montgomery County. Most recently, Aaron won the MSMTA Ensemble Competition for the 5th time in March, 2013, and the MSMTA State festival for the 9th time in May, 2015. On June 29th, 2013, Aaron received the Junior Distinguished Music Achievement Award.

 

    In 2008, at age 9, Aaron partook in a master-class with the Eroica Trio performing Haydn’s Piano Trio in C Major with his older sister and younger brother. In 2011, he appeared at the Sunday at Three concert series performing the Mozart Piano Trio in G Major, K. 496 with his siblings. In February 2013, Aaron participated in a master-class with the Harlem String Quartet performing Beethoven’s ‘Ghost’ Piano Trio. Aaron also with his siblings is invited to perform at the Charleston Chapel Concert Series during the fall.

 

Aaron also studies the trumpet as his second instrument under Mr. David Matchim, and he played with the Howard County Gifted and Talented Band in 2013. He is active in the community and often plays at retirement communities, school events and at his church.  Aaron also enjoys reading, eating, sleeping, drawing, photography, cycling, running, racquetball, and farming.

 

Aaron has exclusively played on Baldwin, Bösendorfer, Young Chang, Yamaha, Knabe Wm., Kawai, , Samick, Petrof, Boston, Essex, Henry F. Miller, Steinberg, Schaefer and Sons, Mason & Hamlin,  Steinway & Sons, and Wurlitzer pianos.



He has played on the rare Knabe Wm. Baltimore Patent grand piano.
